The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (for secondary schools), sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, was organized in 1953 in order to recognize high achievement in Spanish by students of secondary schools and to promote a continuity of interest in Hispanic studies.
The name of the Livingston High School Chapter is Carmen Martín Gaite. Our Chapter is named after one of the leading female prose writers in post-Franco Spain. This Chapter was established and sponsored by Mrs. Nancy Dickson in 1999 to honor those students who are clearly outstanding in their Spanish courses. Now, the association is sponsored by Mrs. Mairelyn Moffett.
This organization encourages those who become members to continue their interest and study in the Hispanic language and culture. Our goal is to have fun learning about Spanish-speaking countries & cultures and to improve our Spanish language skills. |
